Head Coach Bill O’Brien
(on CB Kevin Johnson's route recognition) "Kevin Johnson is a young player, who’s got a realty bright future. He’s learning the pro game. He’s got some really good guys to learn from in his coaches, obviously, John Butler but also Jonathan Joseph and Kareem Jackson. What Kevin does well is he’s a smart guy, he’s a hard worker, he’s a very good transitional player, so he’s able to at times see it and he’s able to transition very well. He’s got good quickness. Obviously, we’re in t-shirts and shorts. The key for Kevin, just like all the rookies, is how do they do when the full pads go on? A lot of these guys that are veterans, we kind of know what we have with a lot of these guys. With rookies, we don’t really know what we have until we see what they do in full pads. He would be one of those guys.”
DE J.J. Watt
(on what stands out to him about NT Vince Wilfork when they talk football) "He has a lot of experience. He has been in the league for I think 12 years, so he’s seen a lot of things. He’s seen championship teams. He’s been around great players, great leaders. Obviously myself, being a leader, I’m always trying to be the best leader I can be so I go to him. ‘What made your championship teams great? How did you guys get to where you were?’ Then I just let him speak and listen to what he has to say, let him talk about my leadership style and what he thinks I can do better, what I can improve on, what I need to keep doing. It’s been great.”

Head Coach Bill O’Brien
(on how he will handle the quarterback situation and reps moving forward) “We mix and match those guys. We’re looking at a lot of different guys at different positions. Today, you saw some younger players in there with (Brian) Hoyer and (Ryan) Mallett. You saw some different offensive lines in there, just trying to look at the versatility of some of those guys. I wouldn’t read too much into that. It’s really all about, like I said a couple weeks ago, when the ball is snapped and the decisions that they’re making and how they’re communicating and things like that. Like I said last week, both guys have really competed hard and done a good job this spring.”
NT Vince Wilfork
(on how he would describe DE J.J. Watt) “Intense. The way he plays is the way he practices. That’s why he does the things he does on game day because he practices the same way. He has a great motor. It’s exciting for me to see just because I know the success he’s had in his short career so far. Just to be with him every day to see exactly what he puts in because a lot of guys don’t put a lot of work in the game. They just get to a certain level and they get complacent. They’re just happy with where they’re at. To see him work every day, he’s going to be a great player for a long time and it all starts with the way he works. He makes me work harder. He makes guys around him work harder. That’s a true leader. I think a lot of the guys feed off of him, offensively and defensively. We all feed off him. He’s going to be great for a long time.”

Head Coach Bill O’Brien
(on what the team accomplished during OTAs) “I think that we’ve accomplished a lot. I think that the guys that were here last year, having been in the system now for over a year, they’re able to practice faster, there’s not as much thinking as there was when we were installing all three phases last year. So we’ve made improvement there. I think the expectation level between the coaches and the players is very good. They understand what they expect out of each other and they understand our expectations as far as how we compete in practice, the pace in which we practice. I’ve been, you know, I wouldn’t say impressed, but I’ve been happy with the rookie group. I think these guys for the most part have worked hard to try to get with our program. I told them just now out on the field that we’ve had a good offseason program and now it’s important to finish it off next week in the minicamp with some good days of practice there.”
ILB Brian Cushing
(on Bill O’Brien talking about his standout performance today and progress) “It just feels really good to be getting my range back. I felt very limited last year, and just kind of my health, coverage, and a lot of things I couldn’t do really on the field. Really feeling like myself again and kind of feeling like I can play anywhere on the field and make a play anywhere on the field. I’m getting, like I said, that range back and feeling very explosive and very happy about that.”

(opening statement) “One thing first, I don’t think I officially announced this yet, but I’ll start off by just officially announcing that George Godsey is the offensive coordinator. I’m sure you guys at some point will have a chance to spend some time with him. He’ll be the offensive coordinator. It’s really not too much different then what he did last year, it’s just his got the title.”
DE J.J. Watt
(on how he feels) “I feel good, I feel good. Like I said at the beginning, it’s good to be back on the field with the guys. We’re just wearing helmets, so I don’t know if I’d really classify it as real football, but it’s as close as we’re allowed to get. We’re taking advantage of the opportunity and we’re enjoying it.”

Head Coach Bill O’Brien
(on what it means to be a good teammate) “It means caring about the team, doing what’s best for the team, and embracing your role. They’re all fighting for a role right now. We’re early, we’re only in June. They’re all trying to find a role on the team. We place them in a role and then it’s up to them to define that role and maybe find another role. That’s part of being a good teammate, embracing the role that we give you. Then communication, being dependable, being smart, and being tough. Those are all things that make up a good teammate.”
TE C.J. Fiedorowicz
(on if watching DE J.J. Watt is motivation) “Oh absolutely, I remember last year when I first got here he was always the first guy in the building. You always see his car in that first spot. He’s just the same guy every day. You come in and you think early on in the year he is going to come in and do that, but he will start taping off. But he continued that 16 weeks last year. Even away games and preseason, when he wasn’t going to play, he was in the hotel weight room lifting. Something is going on up there. He’s got a whole other mindset when it comes to football. He’s a freak.”
